Wrong solution, wrong problem

The answer to “when is enough, enough?” will appear on the June 2 county election ballot. That’s when the county Board of Supervisors will ask voters to approve a quarter-cent sales tax increase, promising to use the money to catch up on road and street repairs.

Tourism district contributes $100k to chamber marketing campaign

The Healdsburg Tourism Improvement District (HTID) voted Nov. 21 to contribute $100,000 to the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce’s post-fire recovery campaign. The chamber is leading efforts to support local businesses that have suffered due to closures and cancelations during the fire and to counter misinformation regionally and nationally that could lead to residual losses in the coming months.

Congressman Huffman holds town hall in response to Capitol insurrection

Congressman Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, held a virtual town hall on Jan. 12 to address questions and provide a report on the violent pro-Trump mob of insurrectionists that assaulted the Capitol on Jan. 6 during the certification of the electoral college results. The rampage led to the death of five people, including Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick.

Cloverdale council discussing Chamber of Commerce funding, garbage rates at Wednesday meeting

The Cloverdale City Council is tackling a small agenda at its meeting this week on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The council will be holding a public hearing to amend the Cloverdale Municipal Code to establish regulation on wireless telecommunication facilities and, as regular business items, will consider adopting a funding agreement with the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce for the 2021-22 year. The council will also be giving direction on who to appoint as the voting delegate for the California League of Cities’ annual conference and will be approving the maximum allowable solid waste, composting and recycling rates per the city’s agreement with Recology.

PG&E conducting aerial patrols starting Monday

Beginning Monday, April 26, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will be conducting aerial patrols of gas transmission pipelines in the North Bay. Residents may notice a helicopter flying as low as 300 to 500 feet, or a fixed-wing aircraft following the transmission lines in Sonoma County. Additionally, PG&E will be patrolling lines in Vallejo, Marin and Napa counties.
