Graduation plans for district coming into focus

As one of the strangest school years in history comes to an end, one of the questions being discussed at every level is how normal end-of-year activities will go, primarily graduations and promotions. At the April 20 meeting of the Windsor Unified School District Board of Trustees, the district unveiled their plans, though the ever-shifting nature of the pandemic makes finalizing plans difficult.

Sonoma County to adopt preemptive stay-at-home order

In a statement on Dec. 10, the county announced that due to rising COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations, Sonoma County will join six other Bay Area counties and the city of Berkeley in preemptively adopting the California Department of Public Health’s Stay-Home Order beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. The local order adopts the restrictions contained within the state’s recently announced Regional Stay-at-Home order.

La Familia Sana, a nonprofit located in Cloverdale, is growing its partnership with Corazón Healdsburg in hopes of bringing more resources to the area. Drill for fire evacuation on Fitch canceled

The fire evacuation drill that was scheduled for the Fitch Mountain area on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 2, has been canceled. No new time for the drill has been confirmed at this time. 

The life expectancy gap: Healdsburg highest, Russian River lowest

The Russian River area has the lowest life expectancy rate of anywhere in Sonoma County while Healdsburg residents tend to live the longest, according to a new Summary Measures of Health report released by the Sonoma County health department.

Healdsburg Community Response Grants awarded to four local nonprofits

$200,000 in community response grants will be going out in varying amounts to several local nonprofits in an effort to bolster organizations’ work in responding to childcare, food, mental health and direct assistance needs.

County hosting virtual workshop Feb. 18 on winery event rules

Permit Sonoma is presenting an opportunity for the public to provide input at a virtual public workshop on Feb. 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. regarding the development of the draft County Winery Events Policy. This effort is a countywide initiative related to agricultural zoning districts outside of the Coastal Zone.
