Arrest made after Sebastopol man drives hijacked truck into local business
A suspect believed to have seized a pickup truck from a Sebastopol business on Jan. 22 and then returned that evening to crash through the front of the building and steal money has since been arrested and released from jail, according to the Sonoma Sheriff’s Facebook on Jan. 24.
Cloverdale council supports sending fireworks to the ballot
The Cloverdale City Council voted 3-2 to support sending the issue of whether or not to prohibit the sale of safe and sane fireworks to the ballot Wednesday night, directing city staff to prepare an ordinance to put out to voters. Mayor Todd Lands and Councilmember Marta Cruz held the dissenting votes.

Fire department is raising funds for a Healdsburg native’s fight against cancer
The Valley Ford Volunteer Fire Department is rallying to raise funds for Healdsburg native Linda Becker’s battle against ovarian cancer. So far, the fire department has raised a combined total of around $27,000 through a GoFundMe campaign and a weekend hot dog dine and donate fundraiser.

The Cloverdale City Council has a small but mighty agenda for its meeting Wednesday night, Jan. 25. The council is slated to discuss its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) spending plan, consider amending its decision to purchase a Portland Loo restroom for the Plaza and lastly, to review and consider options relating to the sale, possession and use of fireworks in town, including potentially placing a measure to ban fireworks on an upcoming ballot.
Windsor resident wins fellowship for work with Cambodian dance
Windsor resident Charya Burt has multiple accolades for her dancing and community engagement, but one more has been added to her list. The Americans for the Arts organization announced two dance artists as recipients of the 2022 Johnson Fellowship for Artists Transforming Communities — Burt being one of them.

Like everyone else, library staff are currently pushing back some in-person programming plans and making adjustments in order to meet the moment and help “bend the curve” of the pandemic.
