Though the Healdsburg City Council and citizens commissions have suspended their meetings for a traditional July break, other city departments continue to work throughout the summer months. Following the June 19 acceptance of a new striping plan for March Avenue, part of a longstanding plan to improve that transportation corridor, the city’s Public Works Department is again requesting public input in determining its priorities for the coming year.

“Scholarship Night is truly a testament to the generosity of the community of Healdsburg and how much our town cares about our young people,” said Shelley Anderson, the school’s scholarship coordinator. “Because of our robust and bountiful scholarship program and donors, many of our HHS graduates are able to get their four-year degrees with minimal or no debt.”

Saturday, May 10, 5:25-9:39pm: Multiple incidents regarding the same woman who called the PD requesting assistance but could not be found when officers arrived. Other RPs also called about the woman's irrational behavior and yelling, from Vine Street, the High School and Healdsburg District Hospital. She called 911 nine times over the day but remained uncooperative. Police are aware of her identity but as of yet she has not been charged with a crime.

The good news is that the downtown Healdsburg Regional Library will fully reopen its doors on Wednesday, June 25, at 10am, after a top-to-bottom remodel. “Library staff are overjoyed to return to the Piper Street Branch,” said Branch Manager Jon Haupt. “Our regular location is ideal—walkable to local schools and services in the heart of Healdsburg.”

On Wednesdays for the past few weeks, a band of lifesavers has walked the streets of Healdsburg, popping into shops and talking to owners and store managers about Narcan. Two retired physicians, David Anderson and Walter Maack, join Jeff McGee, the police department’s Social Services team member, and sometimes other members of the Harm Reduction Coalition.

"I was flying from Nepal to Bangkok when the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar. Mid-flight on March 28, news alerts began sounding. On landing, I learned that a massive earthquake had hit Myanmar, not far from where we had been working days earlier.:

The Healdsburg City Council will have a lengthy goal-setting meeting on Friday this week, an annual discussion that assists the body and its members in prioritizing their efforts for the coming year. The following Monday, April 21, the council will hold its second regular meeting of the month, one which is likely to have its own challenges in light of the April 7 meeting and its revision of the 5-district map for City Council seats. Buckle up...
