Given all the angst and opinion voiced in previous public hearings (and social media) about the city’s transition to District Elections, Monday nights’ meeting took place in a desert. Fewer than half a dozen members of the public were in the room when the hearing, fourth in a series of five, got underway at the posted “time certain” 6:45pm on March 17. But the meeting set forth the future of Healdsburg district elections for years to come.

Update: 3:30 p.m.: The town released a statement on social media stating it was aware of the reports that Foppoli had resigned but that the town had not yet received the word officially from Foppoli. It adds they are attempting to contact him to confirm the resignation and the effective date. 

The West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) board and community will get back into the full swing of things at the Jan. 20 meeting at 6 p.m. over Zoom for topics ranging from several new proposed courses to the district’s COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP) for when schools reopen.

Well, as my mother used to say, “It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good.” In local fire district elections, fresh memories of the Kincade Fire spurred voters to approve measures in all four fire protection districts: Bodega Bay, Occidental, Graton and Gold Ridge, though the Gold Ridge measure is winning by the thinnest of margins.
