Students gather citrus for Cloverdale food pantry, senior center

It’s too early for the Citrus Fair’s orange and grapefruit trees to bear ripe fruit. But on Dec. 14, the lemon trees planted along the boundaries of the fairgrounds were rife with fruit and ready to be picked by a group of Cloverdale High School (CHS) students. The lemons were set aside in baskets and bags to be brought to both the Cloverdale Food Pantry and the Cloverdale Senior Multipurpose Center.

Cloverdale school board discussing vaccines, Measure H progress

The Cloverdale Unified School district is meeting Wednesday, Dec. 15, and covering a lengthy roster of items including the reorganization of the board, a discussion about the state’s vaccine requirement for schools, possible approval of the district’s first interim report and the educator effectiveness block grant, as well as items related to the district’s Measure H bond and its bargaining agreements. This week’s board agenda is lengthy and can be found here. The meeting is being held at 6 p.m. (pending the completion of the board’s closed session) at the Cloverdale High School Maker Space.

‘More powerful together’: West County students come together for merged La Raza Unida Club

The name of La Raza Unida Club at West County High School (WCHS) has a deeper meaning when the backstory behind it is learned. Following the consolidation of El Molino and Analy high schools, El Molino’s La Raza Club and Analy’s MECHA joined forces and became united — which is what ‘unida’ translates to from Spanish.

Ambassador program taking the place of Citrus Fair’s queen pageant

The Cloverdale Citrus Fair announced this week that it’s debuting a new scholarship competition at the 2022 Citrus Fair. The Ambassador Scholarship Program is a shift from the fair’s long-standing queen pageant and is open to all high school juniors and seniors from Cloverdale and Geyserville. The 2022 Citrus Fair will take place Feb. 18-21.
