Eagles win 55th annual John McMillan Holiday Classic hoops tourney

The varsity basketball Eagles played host to three other teams in a scaled down 55th annual John McMillan Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament on Dec. 9-11, winning all three games played to claim the first place trophy.

Lady Eagles score 64-55 win over Roseland University Prep

The Cloverdale High School ladies basketball team is out to a strong start to the league schedule, scoring an impressive, 64-55 home win over Roseland University Prep on Dec. 14. Sophomore Tylie Hatcher led the offense with 27 points, while senior veteran Summer Lands chipped in 24 for the Eagles.

72nd annual REIBT on tap this week

Holiday shopping will give way to the longest running high school basketball tournament in Northern California this week (Dec. 8-11) as Healdsburg hosts the 72nd annual Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament. An annual rite of the winter season, the REIBT returns after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as always, will feature a boys and girl’s tournament running simultaneously starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 and ending in the championship games on Saturday, Dec. 11.

U-14 Cobras compete at Founders Cup soccer tourney

The U-14 Cobras became the first team ever to represent the Healdsburg Youth Soccer Association at the State Founders Cup Competition in Sacramento on Nov. 21 and 22. After the regular season came to an end, Coach Brian Saini wanted to get his players out on the field to prepare for the tournament which would feature some of the top recreation level teams in Northern California. But he faced two problems: getting enough players and closed practice fields.
