Day in the life: 7:09pm The RP on Fitch Street stated that about 10 people were in a physical fight in front of her house. The RP heard yelling, cussing, slapping and hitting. Officers responded and made contact with two subjects. Medical help was staged, but subsequently canceled. A report was taken.

Santa Rosa Symphony Young People’s Chamber Orchestra, Mar. 1

CPAC welcomes back for their fourth appearance this young string orchestra, a winner of the statewide annual Berkeley Junior Bach Festival. Working without a conductor this student ensemble delights with their level of musicianship and attentive collaboration with one another. Special guest will be Lewis Patzner, classically trained cellist with a growing reputation as an innovative cross-over musician and composer. Performance lasts an hour with no intermission.

Happy Birthday, Don!

Cloverdale resident Don Reed had a 90th birthday to remember last Friday, Aug. 14. The veteran had a surprise drive-thru party, which included an appearance from the Cloverdale Police Department and an old fire engine, driven by Geoff Peters. People wearing masks were also able to park for a bit and wish him a happy birthday face-to-face.

Baby Derby, Feb. 17

Babies had their chance to shine on Monday, Feb. 17 during the Baby Derby. Switching up from years past, this year’s contestants raced on a cheerleading mat set up in the middle of the fair auditorium, rather than on the large auditorium stage.

School bond measure on ballot

The Cloverdale Unified School District has put Measure H, a general obligation bond measure, on the Nov. 6 ballot, which will authorize the sale of up to $46 million in bonds to the district. If approved, the bond money will go toward improving school facilities, modernizing classrooms and replacing deteriorating plumbing, amongst other things. (See sidebar for a list of projects that would be authorized to be financed by the bond.)

Sonoma County is no stranger to cannabis, and the passing of Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA), has opened the doors for approved, state-licensed facilities to commercially sell, distribute and produce marijuana for its recreational consumers.
