Applications open for Sebastopol committees and commissions

The City of Sebastopol recently noticed a number of vacancies on city committees, commissions and boards. All applications are due by Dec. 2.

It's once again time for Sebastopolians to nominate one another for the City of Sebastopol's Locals Who Make a Difference program, which recognizes community members who are doing good around town. Nominations are due Dec. 30.

HUSD hopes to begin required ethnic studies course next year

The Healdsburg Unified School District (HUSD) is pursuing the implementation of a district-wide ethnic studies program as well as a required one-semester ethnic studies course for all freshman students starting as soon as next year.

After a tense, hour-long debate that called into question the equality of hybrid meetings for those who are unvaccinated, the Healdsburg City Council voted 4-1 to approve hybrid meetings and the city’s proof of vaccination requirement for attending in-person meetings.

Progressive Urgent Care partially reopens in Sebastopol

Progressive Urgent Care Sebastopol broke its 20-month closure Friday, Nov. 12, opening its doors around the corner from Sonoma Specialty Hospital (SSH) on Palm Avenue. The facility previously located inside SSH closed when COVID-19 hit locally in March 2020.

Cloverdale school board reviewing school plans for student achievement, Measure H progress

The Cloverdale Unified School District (CUSD) Board of Trustees is holding a regular meeting Wednesday night, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. the board is slated to receive a presentation about Cloverdale High School’s Career Technical Education and Future Farmers of America (FFA) programs, receive an update on the district’s Measure H projects, consider and possibly approve the district’s school plans for student achievement and hold a public hearing for the educator effectiveness block grant. The meeting is being held in person, and the full agenda can be found here.

Farmworkers picket Simi Winery for worker rights and conditions

On the evening of Simi Winery’s harvest celebration dinner, dozens of farmworkers and advocates picketed outside the Healdsburg venue for hazard pay, improved working conditions and dignity for field workers Saturday night, Nov. 13.
