A conflict over the Sonoma County Fire District’s role in hosting toy bins for the Windsor Kiwanis Club’s annual food and toy drive that left one club member to picket a fire station in Windsor was resolved last month, with the all parties ready to put the emphasis back on working together to get gifts to local kids.
Saluting pandemic-era student-athletes
The COVID-19 pandemic has been cruel to all of us for many reasons. Of course there have been thousands of cases of illnesses in Sonoma County and now 414 deaths, almost all of them taking place unaccompanied by family or loved ones. Jobs and businesses have been lost and all our daily lives have been restricted by ongoing public health rules requiring us to wear masks, get vaccinated and tested and to limit our public interactions.

Cloverdale council selecting mayor, vice mayor at Wednesday meeting
At its meeting on Dec. 8, the Cloverdale City Council is slated to select its mayor and vice mayor for 2022, adopt a resolution approving an employment agreement for a new city clerk and discuss the position and proposed salary for a “parks superintendent” position within the city. Additionally, the council will begin the process of new subcommittee and committee appointments and will issue a proclamation to Public Works employee Craig Johnson for 30 years of service.
