Healdsburg Police Department collecting non-perishables for holiday food drive

The Healdsburg Police Department is once again participating in the REDCOM Sonoma County canned food drive. Through Dec. 17 people are encouraged to drop off non-perishable foods to the Healdsburg Police Department lobby on Center Street.

Here comes Santa

Our foggy COVID-19 brains can’t remember if Santa Claus visited us last year or not. Many of us feel as if he didn’t. But this year is different. We’ve already seen the jolly old fellow at several community gatherings around the county following the recent Thanksgiving holiday. He was waving to crowds from a lighted tractor float at the Geyserville Lighted Tractor Parade last week. This past Sunday he arrived at the Forestville Community Holiday Tree Lighting on a fire truck and the jolly old elf promises to be in downtown Sebastopol this Thursday (Dec. 2) for another tree lighting ceremony. Analy to be reinstated as name of consolidated high school

After bitter months of debate over rebranding, the Analy High School name lives on. The West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) board voted to rescind their March 16 decision to rebrand the consolidated high school and to re-establish its name as Analy at the Dec. 1 special board meeting.

Windsor Presbyterian Church to host luminary labyrinth, Christmas community service

The Windsor Presbyterian Church is hosting two special holiday events this week, a luminary labyrinth walk on Dec. 2 and a community blue Christmas church service on Dec. 4. Both events are being held in person at the Windsor Presbyterian Church.

‘It means community’: Cloverdale winter festival heads downtown Friday

Cloverdale’s annual winter festival and tree lighting is returning to town this Friday, Dec. 3 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The festival will include live music, food and more — plus a special appearance by Santa, who will be arriving on a fire truck.

First US omicron infection found in San Francisco

 California will increase COVID-19 testing of some airport travelers after a passenger flying to San Francisco International Airport from South Africa was identified as the first known case of the omicron variant in the United States.

The end of the year means plenty of cheer and the Town of Windsor has a host of events and activities for the holiday season.

Windsor council discussing interim town manager, Civic Center project

The Windsor Town Council is meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and is slated to discuss the appointment of an interim town manager, the possible approval to the second amendment of the town’s exclusive negotiating agreement with the Robert Green Company for the Civic Center project and the implementation of SB 1383. The council will also be holding a public hearing for  its multi-family residential objective design standards. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be over both Zoom and in-person at the council chambers. Those attending in person will be required to wear masks. The full council agenda can be found here.

WSCUHSD to consider input on rebranding, trustee voting areas

The West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) board will press on at its special board meeting Wednesday, Dec. 1 to review the student survey results on rebranding and potential next steps.
