Five candidates will be on the ballot for May’s special election

There will be five names on the ballot on May 4, when a special election is held for to fill a vacant town council seat.

Public input on dog park wanted at upcoming meeting

The town of Windsor is inviting residents to attend the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021 at 6 p.m. Town staff will be providing a report on the status of a second dog park in the town.

The Sonoma County League of Women Voters hosted a forum devoted to discussing the pros and cons of the two measures on the ballot for west county voters in March. The first, Measure A, asks voters to approve a $48 parcel tax for West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) and the other, Measure B, asks voters to approve a 4% increase to west county’s transient occupancy tax for hotels and short-term rentals to help support west county schools and fire districts.

Council discussing Six Acres pre-annexation at Wednesday meeting

At its meeting this week, the Cloverdale City Council will be reviewing the city’s 2019-20 financial statements, discussing a pre-annexation agreement for the Six Acres Area, considering a request to establish no parking zones on Franklin Avenue and discussing the county’s five-year strategic plan at its next meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Applications open for two city commissions

Applications are currently open for seats on two of Cloverdale’s commissions. One position is available for the Sonoma County Library Commission and one alternate position is available on the Planning Commission. Applications for both are due Monday, Feb. 15.

SCOE discusses vaccinations and school reopening in community letter

Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools Steve Herrington released a letter to the community detailing the current status of school reopening and school staff vaccinations, and how the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) is guiding those plans.

Drive-by shooting rattles nerves in west Windsor

Residents of western Windsor had a reason to feel anxious on Saturday night, when a drive-by shooting left one man seriously injured, and police officers swarming the neighborhood looking for the suspects, while the sheriff’s department helicopter Henry-1 circled overhead.
