Palm Drive hits a pothole on the road to dissolution
There were plenty of surprises at the Palm Drive Health Care District Board meeting last night. The biggest surprise was that the two hot button issues that most of the public had shown up to hear about — the setting of the tax rate for next year and the fate of the Gravenstein Health Action Chapter — had been removed from the agenda during a 5-minute open session earlier that day, when no members of the public were present.

Beyond the Joe Rodota Trail: SoCo Acts of Kindness keeps giving
On Friday, Jan. 31, the county cleared the homeless encampment on the Joe Rodota Trail. Sixty homeless campers went to a “sanctioned encampment” at Los Guilicos. Some accepted beds in local shelters. More than 100 people either refused what the county had offered or were somehow missed by county officials, but, under threat of arrest, they left the trail anyway, pitching their tents elsewhere around the county.
