County supervisors support continued operations for Bell’s Ambulance

During discussions this week to realign the county’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response zones and agreements throughout the county, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors endorsed a path to allow Bell’s Ambulance to continue serving the north county communities that the private company has been serving since 1956.

Drug overdose-related deaths continue to be a concern in Sonoma County

In the past year, the pandemic has had many effects on mortality, including deaths from COVID-19, however, drug overdose deaths continue to be a concern and appear to have been exasperated by the pandemic according to a report from Jenny Mercado, a Sonoma County epidemiologist.

County case rates continue to decline as orange tier possibilities draw closer

Sonoma County’s COVID-19 case rate and testing positivity rates continue to decline and, according to Sonoma County Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase, the state is expected to adjust the orange tier case rate metric once 4 million doses of vaccine have been delivered to the most disadvantaged communities, meaning the county may be able to move into the orange tier of the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy within the next two to three weeks.

On March 23, the board of directors of the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag + Open Space) recommended funding of over $5.8 million for new recreational projects within or near urban areas throughout Sonoma County.
