A 30-ton machine that has been generating indelible facts, lively opinions, milestone announcements and indispensible wisdom to Healdsburg and Sonoma County for almost a half century is being dismantled this week and sold for junk. The void it leaves is like a death in one’s family, the passing of an era or a movie ending where the theater lights never come back up.

Residential growth report shows falling population, minimal construction
It’s long been a refrain from not just Windsor, but virtually every community, that unchecked growth is the enemy. And while that may be true, Windsor’s annual residential growth report shows that unchecked growth is very much not an issue in Windsor, and hasn’t been for several years.
Winning lights
The town of Windsor sponsored a home decorating contest this year as part of its virtual holiday activities, and on Dec. 17 they announced that after careful deliberation, there was a four-way tie for first place. The winners were 932 Robbie Way, 530 Quince Street, 9511 Lazy Creek Drive and 322 Alexis Street.
Deadlock continues as no decision is reached on filling council vacancy
The Dec.16 meeting of the Windsor Town Council ended much like the previous one, with the council still deadlocked on how to fill the vacant council seat left when Dominic Foppoli was elected as the town’s at-large mayor.
