Special meeting will be held Oct. 7, with town halls and additional meetings in the coming weeks

2020 marks the first year that Windsor will be participating in district elections, and the first time they will be voting for an at-large mayor.

Donald Mort is Sebastopol’s newest interim police chief. Sworn in in August, he’s taking the reins at a critical moment in the history of the Sebastopol Police Department. Less than a year ago, the police union forced out Chief James Connor and, under the influence of the Black Lives Matter Movement, the city instigated an audit of the department.

There will be no action items on the agenda at the Oct. 6 meeting of the Windsor Unified School District Board of Trustees, but it will be filled with important reports on the status of various programs within the district, and updates on how distance learning is going.

As the smoke from the most recent set of fires in Sonoma County clears, the ash left behind can cause challenges to remove. Social media is filled with posts warning of dangers from ash cleanup that may not be accurate, while other dangers are ignored.

The Sebastopol City Council is slated to address a small agenda at its meeting on Oct. 6, with one proclamation, one public hearing and two regular agenda items. The meeting will be held virtually starting at 6 p.m. The meetings are broadcast live over Zoom or livestream.com, and are also available to watch after the meeting occurs.
