Walbridge Fire jumps in containment over weekend
Crews have made progress on the Walbridge Fire, with containment at 58% as of Sunday evening, Aug. 30. With both the Walbridge Fire and the Meyers Fire, crews have shifted to recovery mode, mopping up the burn areas.

On Aug. 29, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Windsor deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Duncan Drive for a report of a disturbance.
Hair salons, barber shops, malls allowed to reopen
The county of Sonoma announced Sunday evening that barber shops, hair salons and malls in the county will be allowed to reopen with modifications, effective Monday, Aug. 31. The reopening comes days after a new structure for California county reopenings was announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The Sebastopol City Council is slated to address a small agenda at its meeting on Sept. 1, with one public hearing and one regular agenda item. CalFire releases fire damage assessment map
While damage assessment is still ongoing for the Walbridge and Meyers fires, and the LNU Lightening Complex as a whole, CalFire has released a map of properties damaged and destroyed that includes an interactive feature where residents can input their address to see if their home has been destroyed or damaged, or if it is still intact with no sustained damage.
Food bank to hold emergency food distribution event in Guerneville
In an effort to help those affected by the Walbridge Fire, the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) will be holding an emergency food distribution event at the Guerneville School on Monday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
County, state and fed ready to begin long road of recovery
On Aug. 27, officials, elected and otherwise, gathered on Zoom to deliver a message of support to their constituents facing losses in the face of the Walbridge and Meyers fires. The approximately two hour meeting covered what resources were being brought to bear for fire victims at the local, state and federal level, and provided guidance for things like insurance filings, opening of Local Assistance Centers (LACs) and timelines for clean-up and re-entry
Thursday fire update: Walbridge Fire growth is holding steady
Sonoma County’s Walbridge and Meyers fires are growing in containment and staying steady when it comes to acreage, with the Walbridge at 55,353 acres and 25% contained and the Meyers at 2,360 acres and 98% contained. Calm weather has allowed fire crews to continue to build lines around the fire and make headway on containment.
