At the Sept. 2 meeting of the Windsor Town Council, up for discussion will be the town’s tree ordinance, a discussion of the sewer system, and delegates will be chosen for an upcoming event.
Windsor businesses contribute to campaign to feed firefighters
The Healdsburg Running Company (HRC) has partnered with the Sunrise Rotary Club of Healdsburg to start a GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised over $38,000, to help local restaurants feed firefighters and to distribute important gear such as masks, water bottles, socks and soap.
Guerneville residents who fled to Petaluma kept community spirit alive
A close-knit group of neighbors who live on Drake Road in Guerneville have been through a lot together. Recurring floods, natural disasters and now fire. In the face of a mandatory evacuation from the Walbridge Fire, the community once again confronted adversity together and evacuated to the KOA campground in Petaluma, calling it “Guerneville South.”
County holding information session for those impacted by fires
The county of Sonoma is holding a virtual community briefing on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for those impacted by the Meyers or Walbridge fires.
Parks and rec turning off irrigation to aid in fire suppression
The town of Windsor Parks and Recreation department has turned off the irrigation at all of its properties in order to help conserve water to fight the Walbridge and other fires.
Some west county post offices close amid wildfires
A handful of west county post offices are closed in response to the evacuation alerts from the Walbridge Fire. People in the areas with closed post offices are being directed to the main post office, located in Petaluma, to pick up their mail.
