HUSD preparing to resume virtual classes tomorrow
 In a letter to the Healdsburg Unified School District (HUSD) community posted to the website and social media Monday afternoon, HUSD Superintendent Chris Vanden Heuvel said the district is preparing to virtually reopen for school tomorrow, Aug. 25.Â
Vine Street Safeway comps food for firefighters
Danny Flores and the folks at Van Acker Construction who heard reports of firefighters working grueling 72-hour shifts decided they wanted to help out crews by purchasing $700 worth of food and drinks at the Safeway on Vine Street. One of the managers at Safeway decided they wanted to help too and when Flores went to check out his order, the grocers comped the entire purchase.Â
Windsor resident donates food and pizza to first responders after call for donations
Windsor resident Alim Charaniya, with the help of community donations, raised $2,500 to purchase 40 boxes of pizza, and a copious amount of food and drinks for firefighters and police officers in Windsor, Healdsburg and Geyserville.

While several homes on Mill Creek Road and Wallace Creek could not be saved, some were, and Healdsburg Fire Marshal/Division Chief Linda Collister was determined Sunday afternoon to make sure the homes that fire crews worked so hard to save would not reignite from leftover hotspots or smoldering trees.Â
