Windsor PD continues work on use-of-force and community policing
At a town council meeting on Oct. 7, Windsor’s Chief of Police Ruben Martinez gave a presentation on use-of-force and related issues to the town council. The presentation was the second of its kind and was the result of a previous presentation on July 1, which triggered interest in the Brother’s Keeper Pledge and applying it going forward.

Santa Rosa man pleads no contest for vehicular manslaughter near Sebastopol
Santa Rosa resident Wayne Thomas, 64, was sentenced to a year in county jail on Friday, Sept. 25, after pleading no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for the September 2018 death of Sebastopol resident Guadalupe Martinez.

Measure asks voters to OK the sale of hospital
For perhaps the fifth or sixth time since 1998, voters and property owners of north Sonoma County are being asked to keep their hospital in Healdsburg open and providing critical access and emergency room care. This time, the measure in question on the Nov. 3 ballot seeks approval of a purchase agreement for the hospital with NorCal HealthConnect, LLC, a secular affiliate of Providence St. Joseph Health that owns Santa Rosa’s Memorial Hospital.
