Trees and their accompanying undergrowth can be the victims, the drivers and the causes of catastrophic wildfires. At a webinar put on by the Sonoma County Farm Bureau these challenges were outlined and tips were given for homeowners to evaluate their own local plant life to eliminate those trees and plants that might be contributing to fire risk.
PG&E conducting practice flyover inspections
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) announced this week that it would be conducting helicopter flyovers along distribution lines throughout the area through August. The flights are meant to help the company gather flight time information in an effort to make future Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) shorter.
Library increasing student access to resources
Sonoma County Library has expanded its Student OneCard partnership — which provides local students access to public library resources using their student ID number — to include 16 of 40 Sonoma County school districts, giving nearly 50,000 Sonoma County public school students access to library resources.
