As schools throughout California tiptoe toward reopening, decisions about whether to routinely test teachers, staff and even students for the COVID-19 virus are proving controversial – and potentially costly.

The Rotary Club of Windsor hosted its candidate forum for town council and mayoral candidates on Sept. 17, but this time instead of the normal in-person format, it took place over Zoom. The host, as in year’s past, was Maureen Merrill and a timekeeper was present on the Zoom to keep people’s answers time appropriate.

WSCUHSD school board candidate forum this Thursday
The Community Action Coalition is hosting a Zoom “meet the candidates” forum with those running for seats on the West Sonoma County Union High School District Board of Trustees. The forum will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. over Zoom.

For the second time in a week, some late night or early morning pranksters dumped liquid soap in the Healdsburg Plaza fountain. As the center fountain sprinkler spread the soap, an overflowing cloud of white bubbles and foam billowed up and over the sides of rectangular, shallow fountain. By daylight on Sept. 20, passersby stopped to marvel at the mischief as city workers next arrived to disperse and dilute the non-caustic but unwanted suds.
A pandemic isn’t stopping Peace Day
Sebastopol will be home to a handful of activities celebrating the United Nation’s International Peace Day this Sunday and Monday, Sept. 20 and 21.
