Palm Drive Board grants Gravenstein Health Action $200,000

At what was supposed to be its last meeting before dissolution, the Palm Drive Health Care District (PDHCD) board voted 3-2 to grant Gravenstein Health Action, formerly the board’s community health subcommittee, $200,000 in seed money to fund its transition to a new nonprofit organization. Gail Thomas, Eira Klich-Heartt and Dennis Colthurst voted in favor of the grant, while Richard Power and an obviously torn Randy Coffman voted against it.

Health officer announces another round of business reopenings

Sonoma County Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase announced Thursday night, June 18, a large-scale reopening of many of the county businesses that have been shuttered due to the county’s shelter-in-place order. The new order, which allows businesses such as nail salons, tattoo parlors, movie theaters, gyms, museums and galleries to open, goes into effect at midnight on Friday, June 19. The easing of the order also allows hotels, short-term rentals and campgrounds to open for recreational travel — though, the county is still trying to discourage long-distance travel for leisure.

Council calls for redo on Jaguar Way project

After more than a year of planning, and 15 years of consideration, the Windsor Town Council reversed course and voted against the extension of Jaguar Way. The project would have made a through way from Windsor Road to Starr Road, and would have featured two lanes of car travel, bike lanes and pedestrian paths. The plan now is to investigate installing just a bike and pedestrian pathway connecting the two roads.

Meals available for Windsor kids

As part of its Child Nutritional Program, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, is providing lunch to all local children age 18 and under, at its Brooks Road Clubhouse, 9640 Brooks Road South in Windsor. This is an essential function for the community and will begin effective Monday, June 22. “Grab & Go” meals will be served curbside by Boys & Girls Club staff, starting at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Boys & Girls Clubs, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Monday and Wednesday “Grab & Go” meals will include two breakfasts, two lunches and two snacks. Friday “Grab & Go” meals will include one breakfast, one lunch and one snack.
