Cal fish and wildlife monitoring effects of Healdsburg wine spill
Correction: While 97,000 gallons spilled from a tank, 20% of it was immediately contained. 97,000 gallons did not go into the river. By Rodney Strong estimates, 50% of the spill was contained by Friday morning, Jan. 24. An estimated 45,000 gallons is reported to have gone into Reiman Creek according to Sonoma County Health news report. An estimated 45,000 went into a wastewater treatment pond.
Local animal control investigating incident with dog who received lacerations
County animal control officers are currently investigating an incident with a bulldog who received lacerations to his tongue and face on Jan. 13 in the Parkland Farms neighborhood of Healdsburg.

Measure G sales tax would bolster fire services
Following multiple years of wildfires and a sense that this is in fact “the new normal,” it seems like an ideal time to pitch a sales tax increase to cover revamping and expanding fire services. However, plans for change and expansion have been in the works prior to the current sense of urgency. On the March ballot, Measure G, if approved, will add a half-cent to sales tax throughout the county.
