Turkey Giveaway, Nov. 22

GOBBLE — Community members gathered in front of the Cloverdale Food Pantry on Friday, Nov. 22 to pick up Thanksgiving staples — turkeys, stuffing and a pie. On Nov. 21, Shalia Vanderweken and Brenda Vronoski held their annual Turkey Round-up, collecting donations of money and turkeys from those able to donate. The community donations provided around 100 turkeys to be given out at the food pantry on Friday. Vanderweken and Vronoski said that they are appreciative of both the community and local service clubs for supporting the round-up year after year.

Mill Bend, the scenic property at the mouth of the Gualala River, has been secured by a conservation buyer in partnership with Redwood Coast Land Conservancy (RCLC) as the major step in preserving and protecting the Gualala River estuary, the gateway to the Gualala River watershed.

Ives Pool closed for repairs

Due to mechanical issues with the Ives Pool filter system that prevent maintaining correct filtration flow requirements and proper pool temperature, Ives Pool will close temporarily starting Wednesday, Nov. 27. Closure will continue until repairs can be made.

Disaster response team to help with Kincade recovery

Team Rubicon, a disaster response team made up of primarily veterans made helping Sonoma County its next mission. The group has between 22 and 26 people who will be heading out to homes burned down by the Kincade Fire in an effort to help homeowners sift through the ashes for important possessions. 

All large events on city property in Sebastopol must now be zero waste

On Nov. 19, the Sebastopol City Council added a new zero waste component to the special event permit required for large events on city property, such as Ives Park or Libby Park.

Sebastopol City Council ready to move on climate emergency resolution

After five months of work, Sebastopol Climate Action gave a presentation at the Nov. 19 Sebastopol City Council meeting, asking the council to adopt a climate emergency resolution.
