Big changes coming to Section 8 housing process

The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (CDC), the agency that, among its many other tasks, oversees Section 8 housing, is proposing a radical overhaul of the way it dispenses Section 8 housing vouchers to low-income individuals and families in Sonoma County.

Mambo, music and more — Healdsburg Elementary School and Healdsburg Charter students took to the  recess yard Friday morning for a fun-filled Multicultural Day celebration. TK and kindergarteners clad in butterfly wings kicked off the event by singing “Hello to all the children of the world,” a tune that has kids sing “hello” in different languages such as French and Spanish.

UPDATE: The Grind event has been postponed, according to the city of Healdsburg.

 Racers took to the water on May 4 for the Great Russian River Fun Race in northern Healdsburg. The race ran five miles down to Memorial Bridge and included divisions for men’s and women’s kayak, stand-up paddle boards and canoes. There were also a few in costume as is tradition for the event. 

Council raises ADU size limits

Healdsburg City Council increased the maximum size of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) at its May 6 meeting at city hall.
