Thirteen library branches will be open Nov. 4

As of Monday, Nov. 4, 13 Sonoma County Library branches will be open, according to Library Director Ann Hammond.

Cal Fire Battalion Chief and Geyserville Fire Chief Marshall Turbeville wasn’t the first person on the scene when the Kincade Fire first made its appearance in the eastern hills above Alexander Valley on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 23. A Napa County fire unit beat him there, but as he followed the column of smoke through the valley and up into the mountains toward the Geysers geo-thermal plant, he remembers feeling distinctly ill at ease.

The Kincade Fire started on the night of Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the hills east of Alexander Valley. It grew to 16,000 acres in the first day; a week later, as of this writing, it was around 77,758 acres.

Evacuation warning lifted for much of north county

This is an update on evacuation orders and warnings from the Kincade Fire via Nixle.

Drill for fire evacuation on Fitch canceled

The fire evacuation drill that was scheduled for the Fitch Mountain area on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 2, has been canceled. No new time for the drill has been confirmed at this time.

The Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds was home to this year's annual Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 31, giving kids the opportunity to trick-or-treat out of the trunks of community members' decorated cars. 

Big John’s Market to reopen on Oct. 31, at 3 p.m.

Big John's Market at 1345 Healdsburg Ave. (corner of Dry Creek Road) plans to reopen to the public at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 following the recent days of power outage and wildfire evacuations.
