While the annual Forestry Crab Feed fundraiser and raffle is canceled this year due to COVID-19, you can still donate to the organization, which aims to raise funds for local nonprofits and for CalFire firefighters who’ve lost their homes or were injured in recent wildland fires.
No crystal balls, but there is a plan in place
As the Board of Directors of North Sonoma County Healthcare District and Chief Executive Officer we thank Healdsburg Tribune publisher, Rollie Atkinson, for his recent timely editorial (“Our hospital’s crystal ball,” Sept. 11, 2014). The editorial does a very good job of describing many of the obstacles facing small community hospitals in Sonoma County, such as our own Healdsburg District Hospital, as they struggle to adapt to these conditions and overcome their detrimental effect. Some hospitals will not make it: witness the recent closure of Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastapol. But we believe it can be done and we are committed to that outcome in our community.
Palm Drive hits a pothole on the road to dissolution
There were plenty of surprises at the Palm Drive Health Care District Board meeting last night. The biggest surprise was that the two hot button issues that most of the public had shown up to hear about — the setting of the tax rate for next year and the fate of the Gravenstein Health Action Chapter — had been removed from the agenda during a 5-minute open session earlier that day, when no members of the public were present.

Troop 21 celebrates 50th anniversary of Wilderness Act with 50-mile hike
When the Scouts of Troop 21 set out to plan the annual sojourn into the High Sierra it seemed appropriate to choose a location that celebrates the spirit of one of the visionaries of preserving wilderness: John Muir. President Lyndon Johnson signed the Wilderness Act creating the National Wilderness Preservation System 50 years ago in 1964.

7:47pm Arson occurred on University Avenue at Powell Avenue. A woman tried to light signs on fire with a lighter, but the signs did not ignite because they were plastic. A second RP indicated that the woman was talking to herself. Officers responded and arrested a 49-YO woman for aggravated arson. She was transported to county jail...
