There’s no question that in today’s world, we all rely heavily on technology to solve problems, make our lives easier, and create innovations that change the way we live, think, work and interact with one another. Given the rate at which technology evolves, it has become imperative that schools begin introducing relevant curriculum that provides students with essential STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills, and set them up for academic and career success. With the help of the Healdsburg Education Foundation, Healdsburg Junior High is doing just that.

Recently, our 37-year-old son Morgan died of an accidental heroin overdose. He was an avid surfer who dodged big waves and sharks, but could not dodge addiction. We are devastated by his unexpected and untimely death.
Healdsburg Fire Department open house Saturday
To celebrate Fire Prevention Week, the Healdsburg Fire Department will host its annual open house on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All families and friends are invited to meet fire department personnel, watch live demonstrations, participate in fire extinguisher training, and have lunch with Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey Bear. The fire department staff will be available to teach children about fire safety, exiting, smoke alarms, creating escape plans and calling 911. Agencies invited to participate are the police department, Bell’s Ambulance and Cal Fire. Friends and family are invited.
