Filing period for Windsor’s April special election opens

The filing period for candidates in the Windsor Town Council’s upcoming special election to fill the fifth council seat opened Dec. 20, according to Town Clerk Irene Camacho-Werby.

Healdsburg sees uptick in car thefts

The Healdsburg Police Department took six reports of stolen vehicles between July 15 and July 18, according to police logs and recent statements on the department’s Facebook page. So far, several arrests have been made and three of the stolen vehicles have been recovered.

First, second and third cases of community spread of COVID-19 identified

In a press conference at noon on March 15, county officials confirmed that the first case of community spread of COVID-19. The infected individual is an employee of Rohnert Park Medical Center, and individuals who have been in contact with that person are in the process of being notified, according to interim-public health officer Dr. Sundari Mase. Another person who has been in direct contact with the infected subject has been tested and is in self-quarantine.

Jury covers quakes, health

The Sonoma County Civil Grand Jury tackled several big issues this year, including health treatment in the county jail, protecting local water systems against earthquakes, problems with the county’s mental health budget and the chronic neglect of county-owned properties. 41 units OK’d at Mill District

In a 5-0 vote the Healdsburg Planning Commission gave the go-ahead and approved the design for a 41-unit affordable housing project as a part of Replay’s development of the Mill District.

Cal Fire still busier than average despite rainy winter

Though Governor Jerry Brown declared an end to the drought on April 7, after Sonoma County saw plenty of rain over the 2016-2017 winter, the state’s wildland fire service Cal Fire has been just as busy as during drought years, if not busier.
