Town appoints new police chief
A new police chief is coming to Windsor, and if the selection seems different than last time, you can blame COVID and timing. In a statement dated May 11, Windsor Town Manager Ken MacNab announced the appointment of Mike Raasch as Windsor’s new police chief, effective May 12. Raasch will replace Windsor Police Chief Ruben Martinez, who announced his retirement after two years of service as Windsor’s chief and a 30-year career in law enforcement.
Town and police release joint statement on Floyd killing and use of force
On June 6, the Windsor Town Council and Windsor Police Chief released a statement on the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers and outlining the use of force policies in effect for Windsor’s force.
County supes pass eviction defense ordinance
In a unanimous vote Tuesday afternoon, March 24, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved an urgency ordinance that suspends the eviction of tenants for failing to pay rent. The ordinance applies to cases in which a tenant’s failure to pay rent is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in that they’ve lost income or have had to pay for substantial medical needs as a result of the outbreak.

Structure fire at Armida Winery damages deck
A structure fire broke out early Wednesday morning, April 22, at the Armida Winery on Westside Road, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage to a large deck on the property, according to Healdsburg Fire Department reserve and former CalFire Battalion Chief, Kim Thompson.
