School opening still seems far away despite vaccination roll out and the governor’s proposals

There were several items on the agenda at the Jan. 19 Windsor school board meeting, but none garnered more attention, or time, than the latest information about a possible return to in-person instruction and vaccine information as it relates to schools.

Are coastal changes coming?

A lot is happening along Sonoma County’s 35 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline these days. And this time we’re not talking about the migrating gray whales or the disappointing closure of the dungeness crab season. We’re talking about actions and proposals by the dominant coastal species — humans.

Improving access to your library: Library eliminates fines

PAID ADVERTORIAL — Last year, the Sonoma County Library went “fine-free” and eliminated overdue fines for items returned late. In addition, all past fines were waived. In all, more than 80,000 people — 30 percent of all library borrowers — had their overdue fines waived.
