Annual items on tap for next WUSD meeting
This week the Windsor Unified School District Board of Trustees will be meeting somewhat off schedule, as its usual Tuesday meeting gets bumped to Thursday. This meeting was rescheduled from Sept. 15 to Sept. 17 so that the superintendent and the trustees can attend a meeting about student voices and equality.
Windsor resident arrested on charges of following teen girls, attempting to break into their house
On Aug. 29, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Windsor deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Duncan Drive for a report of a disturbance.
West Side School lays out plan for distance learning
At the school board’s regular meeting on July 30, West Side School Principal and West Side Union School District Superintendent Kris Menlove revealed the district’s distance learning plans for the 2020-21 school year, stating that distance learning will look quite different this fall and will have a more rigorous program than what was implemented last year.
HUSD moving forward to explore ethnic studies program
The Healdsburg Unified School District, with full support from the school board of trustees, is planning to explore how to create and implement a districtwide ethnic studies program for all grade levels. The creation of a new curriculum can take years, however, the process will soon kick off with a preliminary meeting with the Acosta Educational Partnership, a group that works with local schools to aid in the process of establishing ethnic studies, and with community outreach.

Healdsburg police revive man with Narcan, marks second use of the drug
On Nov. 13 Healdsburg officers responded to a call of an unconscious man found in a CVS bathroom where he was later successfully revived with Narcan, an opioid suppressing nasal spray that blocks the opioid receptors in the brain. This marks the second time in less than a month that officers have successfully used and administered the drug.
