HJH students perform

On Dec. 7, 2012 at the Fitch Mountain Campus, the Healdsburg Junior High Spanish class students performed a dance entitled “Los Machetes” as part of the “Navidad Mexicana” Christmas celebration for the families of both the Spanish speaking and English speaking community. The dance was taught to the students by a community member (Mrs. Yolanda Giron), who was a former dancer for the Ballet Folkloric Dance Group in Oaxaca, Mexico. The performance was a huge success as it validates the importance of experiencing the culture when learning a foreign language. Pictured above are (l-r): T. Van Vranken, K. Robberts, A. Nuñez, A.
