Grateful for ocean coverage

Ward’s death ruled a homicide, family files wrongful death suit

On Tuesday, May 19, an attorney for the mother of David Glen Ward, the 52-year-old man who died in a bizarre interaction with sheriff’s deputies at the end of December, has filed suit against the two sheriff’s deputies involved, a Sebastopol police officer who was on the scene, the county of Sonoma and Sonoma County Sheriff Mark Essick.

Oct. 13, 5:04pm: A hit-and-run accident occurred on Dry Creek Road at Grove Street. A truck hit a traffic light causing damage to the signal pole. The truck also suffered a blown tire. A report was taken. At 7:09pm, the employer of the driver of the truck indicated that the driver hit the pole and did not report it because the driver did not think there was damage.

As Latinx population faces more COVID hurdles, groups say there is aid for food, finance

According to the latest COVID-19 case data by race/ethnicity released by the County of Sonoma, the Latinx/Hispanic population currently accounts for 51% of the coronavirus cases in the county, whereas, only 17% of the county’s cases are among the white demographic. While the disproportionate case numbers (Latinx/Hispanic people make up 25.6% of the county’s population) look grim, local nonprofits and outreach organizations such as Corazón Healdsburg and California Rural Legal Assistance Inc., are reminding folks that help is available for food, rental, housing and legal assistance.

HPD opens investigation into aggressive driving incident at march

A white pickup truck aggressively swerved through a crowd of about 50 protesters while they were in front of the Rite Aid on Healdsburg Avenue during a youth anti-racism march on June 26. According to the Healdsburg Police Department, multiple people reported the incident and it is now an open investigation.
