Students’ art rises out of the ashes
When fairgoers walked into the still exhibit hall of the Cloverdale Citrus Fair, above them hung a large charcoal mural painted by seven students from Geyserville New Tech Academy. The mural, titled “Phoenix Rising,” was created in response to the students’ experiences during and following the Kincade Fire and was made using charcoal harvested from logs that were burnt on the school’s campus during the fire.
Cloverdale council holding public hearing for code enforcement procedures
The Cloverdale City Council is tackling no new business items and only one public hearing item — having to do with code enforcement — at its meeting on April 13. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held both online via Zoom and in-person at the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

Sculptor Spotlight: Sculpture Jam Collective
“Derrick,” a sculpture by Sonoma County Sculpture Jam artists Beth Hartmann, David Furger, Jeffrey Zankel, John Packard, John Draper and Gordon Carter of Sebastopol, has been silent since being installed on July 22, 2020. “Derrick” has decided to break the silence. This sculpture has a number of messages for passerby on the east side of Cloverdale Boulevard between East Second Street and East Third Street.
