Editor: Two high schools share one swimming pool in the heart of
this affluent wine country and the municipal government chooses to
drag their feet and not give our kids the facility they need in
order to prepare to train and compete.
If this was a football field do you think the athletes’ parents
would let the city manager give the poor explanation that someone
chose the wrong sprinkler system, and for that reason training
would have to wait a few months? I don’t think so.
More than half of the children using the Healdsburg pool are
from Windsor. Both of our local high schools need that pool right
now. Windsor and Healdsburg municipal government leaders should
stop bickering and get this swimming pool working now. As a high
school parent of a daughter who needs to train, and a swimmer who
uses the pool, I urge other local residents to lobby the city
managers of both cities.
Fix our pool.
