La Familia Sana hosts first Posada Navideña
With less than a month to plan, La Familia Sana executed its first Posada Navideña on Sunday. Originally meant to be from noon to 4 p.m. the Posada ended later because of the number of people who turned out. Community members enjoyed live banda, Aztec dancing, food vendors and Latinx-owned businesses to shop from, as well as COVID-19 vaccines from Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa.

Just like Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” Healdsburg has witnessed Christmases of the past, present and future. The centerpiece of Christmas Present is the majestic, bejeweled and lighted tree erected in the Plaza by the city and the tourism improvement district. It is a stunning addition to the town’s bustling crosswalks. Healdsburg’s Christmas Future will be the one celebrated without masks and COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. And, Healdsburg’s Christmases Past hold many tales of earlier spirits, cherished memories and a few episodes almost lost to history.

Potmesil named school board president, McAllister to serve as vice president
In the annual reorganization of the Healdsburg Unified School District (HUSD) Board of Trustees, board vice president Mike Potmesil was unanimously voted in as board president on Dec. 15 during the board’s regular meeting. Trustee Rose McAllister will serve as the board’s vice president.
Market Report: Thank you for a perfect year
I’m submitting this terribly late in hopes it’s able to be seen before our final market, Saturday, Dec. 18. If so, you’ll know this will be a packed market: filled with plenty of produce despite many farms ending their season and all our delicious prepared and packaged food vendors you’ve come to know and love. We’ll also have close to 30 craft vendors, many who come throughout the season on a rotating schedule, but lots of new ones who’ve just come for our Fall/Holiday Craft Market. This will be the biggest week for this event.

Nine girls from Windsor Girl Scout troop win Presidential Volunteer Service Awards
According to the Girl Scout Law, Girl Scouts must ‘Make the World a Better Place.’ This year, nine Girl Scouts belonging to Girl Scout Troop 11302 earned their Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, eight at the Gold Level and one at the Silver Level. The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) recognizes United States citizens of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime. Earning this award is a tremendous honor.
