Update: Reynoza jumps out to early lead in Windsor special election

8:05 p.m. The first update of the night shows Rosa Reynoza out to a strong lead, with 2,709 votes, nearly double that of her two closest challengers, Jeffrey Leasure and Oscar Chavez who are tied with 1,000 votes each. Julia Donoho is close behind with 919 and Cody Wilson trails with 110.

Initial numbers show Measure C passing

Update: 4:30 p.m. May 5: A single additional vote added in the latest update show an even stronger victory for Measure C, with 70 in favor (85.37%) and 12 against (14.63%).Update: 8:10 p.m. Initial returns show the measure passing handily, however only 81 votes have been counted. Still 69 are in favor (85.19%) and 12 are against (14.81%).Update: Measure C asks if to reduce wildfire risk, preserve public safety and provide essential fire prevention services to our community, shall Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District Ordinance No. 20/21-0127-02 be adopted, establishing a special tax, including $400 per occupied residential parcel, $400 per parcel with Commercial Recreational uses, and $50 per vacant parcel, with estimated annual revenue of $50,000, for an eight fiscal year period (2021/2022-2028/2029), with annual audits and funds being used exclusively for wildfire hazard reduction services benefitting Special Tax Zone 1?

Zigler moving to top spot at Windsor Middle School

In a statement dated May 3, Windsor Unified School District Superintendent Jeremy Decker promoted Amy Zigler, current assistant principal at Windsor High School, to become the next principal at Windsor Middle School. Zigler accepted this promotion to be effective for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

In a statement dated May 3 it was announced that Windsor Unified School District Superintendent Jeremy Decker promoted Brian Williams, current principal of Windsor Middle School, to become the next principal at Windsor High School. This new assignment is to be effective for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

Monte Rio, Villa Grande wastewater treatment study secures funding

Sonoma County secured $500,000 in state grant money mid-April to fund a study exploring alternative wastewater disposal options for the Monte Rio and Villa Grande communities along the lower Russian River, according to an April 19 press release from the California State Water Resources Control Board.
