Mill Creek completes wildfire protection plan
Fire Safe Sonoma and the unincorporated community of Mill Creek Road in the western wooded outskirts of Healdsburg announced last week the completion of their Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), a detailed document that measures wildfire risks specific to an area and identifies ways to mitigate that risk in a comprehensive plan.

Nonprofit gives fire victims new toys
On Sunday, Nov. 10, 20-year-old Ashlee Smith and her mother Erika, both Reno, Nevada residents, pulled up to the Healdsburg Community Center with a trailer of toys, board games and stuffed animals and gave away hundreds of toys to kids who lost their homes in the Kincade Fire.
Heirloom Expo returns for another year of pure food and education
For the eighth year in a row the Heirloom Expo returns to Sonoma County, with three packed days of food, education and fun, Sept. 10 through 12. The celebration of small-scale, organic and sustainable farming returns with a variety of new displays, new speakers and some new vendors.
Will Healdsburg students participate in the National School Walkout to End Gun Violence on March 14?
The national school walkout is scheduled for March 14 and students are suggested to walk out of class for 17 minutes, one minute for each life lost in the Parkland, Florida school shooting. At Healdsburg High School, the student leadership class is organizing a walkout at 10:15 a.m. Students will gather around the flagpole in front of the school district office.
