Military veterans and ALS

My wife, Susan, died from ALS in 2007 and donated her body to research. A few weeks ago, studies found that NFL players are at greater risk of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).  Papers like this one ran stories about the news and rightfully so. But with Veterans Day approaching on Sunday November 11, how many of us know that a much, much larger segment of our population — military veterans — also is at greater risk of Lou Gehrig’s Disease?

Nuestra Comunidad programs seek to promote emergency preparedness, self love and community healing

In 2021, Nuestra Comunidad danced non-stop. In 2022, it looks to continue to promote body movement and self-love but also new programs dedicated to teenagers. The northern Sonoma County nonprofit was founded to help the community prepare for emergency situations, but has actively worked to introduce other programs focusing on personal wellness as well. All of them lead to having a sense of community in the Latinx population.
