Low-cost pre-participation physical examinations for high school
athletes attending Healdsburg High School will be offered at the
offices of Healdsburg Primary Care, 1312 Prentice Drive, Healdsburg
on Saturday, August 5. This will be the 28th year that these
examinations have been offered at reduced cost by volunteer
physicians and other health-care providers in Healdsburg. These
examinations are required for participation in any athletic program
at the high school level.
These examinations will be offered by a volunteer team of
physicians, nurse practitioners and physical therapists who
practice in Healdsburg. The cost is $25, payable at the time of
examination. All of the money collected will be donated to
Healdsburg High School for use in academic, athletic, and fine arts
programs.
Students who plan to participate in any athletic program in the
coming academic year are encouraged to have this examination now,
as this program will not be repeated during the course of the
school year.
Appointments are required and may be scheduled by calling
433-3383. Inform the receptionist that the appointment is to
participate in the special sports participation examination.
Each student athlete should contact his or her coach and let
that person know of their participation in these examinations.
Students should wear athletic shorts to facilitate examination
of the lower extremities without the need for disrobing.
There are a limited number of appointments this year, and
students are urged to call early to secure one of them. Students
unable to schedule an appointment, should contact their personal
physician as early as possible to complete this examination prior
to the first day of participation.
These examinations have been offered for the past 28 years, and
have proven to be both an opportunity to provide medical
evaluations and advice to student athletes, as well as to provide a
source of funding for activities at Healdsburg High. Coaches are
encouraged to contact students they anticipate will be included in
their programs to make them aware of this opportunity.
