Gina Riner appointed executive director of Healdsburg Jazz

Healdsburg Jazz, a nonprofit that produces year-round jazz performances, an annual festival and education programs about the importance of jazz as the indigenous American art form, announced the appointment of Gina Riner as its new executive director.

Day in the life: 7:09pm The RP on Fitch Street stated that about 10 people were in a physical fight in front of her house. The RP heard yelling, cussing, slapping and hitting. Officers responded and made contact with two subjects. Medical help was staged, but subsequently canceled. A report was taken.

Popular pooch reaches major milestone birthday

One of Healdsburg’s fluffiest and most popular residents has reached a milestone birthday.

Babies had their chance to shine on Monday, Feb. 17 during the Baby Derby. Switching up from years past, this year’s contestants raced on a cheerleading mat set up in the middle of the fair auditorium, rather than on the large auditorium stage.

Cloverdale resident Don Reed had a 90th birthday to remember last Friday, Aug. 14. The veteran had a surprise drive-thru party, which included an appearance from the Cloverdale Police Department and an old fire engine, driven by Geoff Peters. People wearing masks were also able to park for a bit and wish him a happy birthday face-to-face.

Healdsburg junior high raises money for Humane Society of Sonoma County

Every year, Healdsburg Junior High’s (HJH) leadership class plans a fundraiser to benefit a local Healdsburg organization. This year, students decided to raise money for local animals in need — they raised roughly $1,000. Bethany Carlson, guidance counselor at the junior high, said students chose to start a monthlong school-wide coin drive for the Humane Society of Sonoma County in Healdsburg.
