Monte Rio homicide suspect in custody following shelter in place order
The shelter in place order that had been in place for Monte Rio has dropped now that the individual suspected of shooting and killing a man in Monte Rio has been arrested without incident, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office reported in a Nixle alert issued at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, March 1.
Sebastopol council discussing 10-unit townhome project, housing strategy
The Sebastopol City Council is slated to hold two public hearings and a workshop at its meeting on March 1. The council will hold a public hearing for an ordinance about mandatory organic waste disposal and a hearing to consider a zoning amendment, conditional use permit and tentative map for the Huntley Square Townhomes, located at 7950 Bodega Avenue. Additionally, the council will be holding a workshop on the city’s draft housing strategy, considering an amendment that would create an ad hoc committee for a citywide staffing assessment study and considering a budget amendment to the city’s Relaunch Sebastopol contract.Â
California mask mandate for schools to end after March 11
All students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors at schools and child care facilities starting March 12.Â
A day of daffodils and remembrance in Cloverdale
Cloverdale’s annual Day of Remembrance once again saw students being handed bouquets of brightly-colored daffodils as they walked across the Cloverdale High School campus. High schoolers walking toward their lunch period on Feb. 25 were given a bouquet of 16 daffodils and a tag with the names of the people the daffodils are meant to honor — young people, former Cloverdale High School (CHS) students, who lost their lives to cancer.
